About This Event
Opening Doors: a beginner-friendly watercolor workshop Let’s unlock creativity and find new perspectives in a welcoming, introductory watercolor workshop! We’ll create charming watercolor door portraits inspired by Fishtown’s whimsical and colorful doors. With a focus on simple shapes and playful color, you’ll easily bring each entryway to life and leave with a small collection of postcard paintings, ready to send or keep. No drawing or watercolor experience is needed. I’ll walk you through some simple sketching and painting techniques, and share plenty of examples and inspiration boards - all you need to bring is a curiosity and a willingness to play. Each participant will get to use (and keep) a mini, handmade watercolor travel kit. This portable painting set invites you to keep opening creative doors wherever you go!
Cost: $65/person
About Emily I'm a mid-Michigan artist with a passion for creating work that celebrates the joy and pride we feel towards special spaces - places that feel like home, remind us of adventures, or evoke a sense of precious nostalgia. We've all experienced the feeling of being somewhere where the sun shines a little brighter and laughter & love seem more abundant, and my artwork lets us hold on to that feeling a bit longer. As a lifelong Michigander and graduate of the University of Michigan’s School of Art + Design, my familiarity with our state’s beloved places inspires my watercolor work and my collection can be found in many shops throughout the state (including, of course, Two Fish!). I love creating handmade goods, spreading color and light, and making art more accessible within our communities.
